Shepherds Pie
(Chillitalks Version)
Serves - 5-6
Duration - 45 mins
Ingredients
Potatoes - 3 small
Butter - 2tbsp
Pasta - 250 grams (macaroni or any pasta of your choice.)
Minced meat - 250 grams
Salt - to taste
Mozzarella cheese shredded - handful
Oregano - 1 tsp
Red chilli flakes - 1tsp (optional)
Tomato- 2 sliced (optional)
For Minced meat preparation
Ginger garlic paste - 1tsp
Onion - 3 medium (chopped)
Tomato - 2 medium (chopped)
Green chillies - 2
Coriander leaves - handful (chopped)
Salt - 1 - 1/2 tsp (depending or taste)
Red chilli powder - 1 and 1/2 tsp
Haldi - 1/4 tsp
Zeera powder - 1/4 tsp
Chaat masala - 1/2 tsp
Garam masala- 1/4 tsp
Oil - 3 tbsp
For White Sauce
Flour - 3 tbsp
Butter - 2 tbsp
Milk - 3 cups
Salt - to taste
Pepper - 1/2 tsp
Oregano - 1 tsp
Method -
Boil potatoes , peel and mash it well. add butter, salt and oregano, mix well. and keep aside.
In a deep cooking pot , Boil water, add salt , add 1 tbsp oil and add the pasta. once it cooks, strain and set aside.
Minced meat preparation
Wash the minced meat thoroughly, put it in a strainer, set aside.
In
a wok, add oil, and the chopped onions, until golden brown,
Once the colour changes, add ginger garlic paste and saute.
Add green chillies, and the minced meat.
Now, add salt, haldi, red chilli powder, garam masala, chat masala, zeera powder. mix well.
Now add chopped tomatoes and chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
Let it simmer on low heat.
Once the water dries up, remove from heat and set aside.
White sauce -
Heat butter in a pan, add flour to it, mix well.
Pour the milk slowly while whisking, so no lumps are formed.
add salt, pepper and oregano.
Once it thickens, remove from heat.
Assembling
Take a deep baking dish, and first make a layer of the mashed potato.
Next add the minced meat, spread it evenly.
Next layer will be the boiled pasta.
Place the sliced tomatoes on the pasta. (optional)
Pour the white sauce on it.
Sprinkle handful of mozzarella cheese on it. add crushed oregano and chilli flakes.
Place it in the oven for 10-15 mins, at 180*c
Once the cheese melts,remove from the oven.
Shepherds pie is ready to be served!
