Chicken Samosa

Chicken Samosa - Homemade delicious Samosas are a must at our place especially during ramadan, you can make it ahead of time,  and freeze it.  And fry it fresh whenever you want. You can make the filling of your choice too, minced meat, chicken or egg
A must dish for iftar during ramadan. try it and let me know what you think.                           

Chicken Samosa
Makes - 20 - 22 samosas                                                                                                                                                                                         
Duration - 30 mins


Ingredients
​
  1. Flour -​250 grams
  2. Water - 1/2 cup or as required
  3. Salt- 1/2 tsp
  4. Oil- 1 tbsp
  5. Flour and water paste for sealing - 1 tsp flour plus 1/4 cup water. mix well

For Chicken Filling

  • Chicken Mince - 250 grams
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1tsp
  • Onion - 2 medium (chopped)
  • Tomato - 1 medium (chopped)
  • Green chillies - 2
  • Coriander leaves - handful (chopped)
  • Salt - 1 - 1/2 tsp (depending or taste)
  • Red chilli powder - 1 and 1/2 tsp
  • Haldi - 1/4 tsp
  • Zeera powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Chaat masala - 1/2 tsp
  • Garam masala- 1/4 tsp
  • Oil - 3 tbsp

​Method -
  • In a bowl, mix together, flour, salt, slowly add water while mixing to make a dough, add 1 tbsp oil.mix well. and keep aside.
Chicken filling Preparation
  • Wash the minced chicken thoroughly, put it in a strainer, set aside.
  • In  a wok, add oil, and the chopped onions, until golden brown, 
  • Once the colour changes, add ginger garlic paste and saute.
  • Add green chillies, and the minced chicken.
  • Now, add salt, haldi, red chilli powder, garam masala, chat masala, zeera powder. mix well.
  • Now add chopped tomatoes and chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
  • Let it simmer on low heat.
  • Once the water dries up, remove from heat and set aside.


Filling the samosas
  • Take 1/3 rd of the dough and roll it into a circle,cut it into long strips, (see pics below.)
  • ​Stack the strips one on top of the other
  • Now cut it into small squares
  • ​Roll out each suare, into a small circle , and add a spoon of the filling and seal using the flour water mixture.and press the sides well.
  • Repeat the steps till you make all the samosas.
  • Cover it well with a cling film, and place it in the freezer,or 
  • Take a deep frying pan, add oil, once hot, fry the samosas for 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  • Enjoy it hot with ketchup.
